After a month (or more? ..I lost track of time) making 250 swallows it came to the big day of getting them all flying around the beautiful Sperry Tent at Wilderness festival. To say I was nervous was an understatement. I had a plan in my head but until I started working I wasn't sure it was going to work. I had three merry helpers who I would not have been able to do it without. We started work late in afternoon as soon as the tent was put up but as the sun started to go down we realised that all the lovely lights were not yet working and are only option for continuing to work was van headlights and a couple of head torches. Humour began to fail and by 2 in the morning so had my energy. I began again at first light with renewed vigour, I could now see it taking shape. By midday my last swallow was hung up. Phew! The festival revelry began a day later with diners banqueting under the flock with amazing food by Angela Hartnett, Niklas Ekstedt and Raymond Blanc.
